Helping you grow in your faith, and encouraging you to make a smoothie
I LOVE to Bible journal and if you’ve found this post, I bet you do too! In this post I’ll share with you the best supplies bible journaling.
However, if you are new to bible journaling check out this Bible journaling for beginners/non artists post here.
Without further ado, here are some of the best supplies for Bible Journaling.
Having a Bible with columns makes it so much easier to make notes and create designs. There are many different options to choose from, so make sure to do some research before deciding on a Bible.
The Bible I’m currently using is a two column bible, which means the words are separated into two columns on each page.
I love using the space to write out specific verses and prayers. It’s cool to look back on the prayers I once prayed and how God has answered them.
I have seen many people take up an entire page to Bible journal on but I prefer to keep my designs to the sides.
*The one I have linked is single column.*
My watercolor set is one of my favorite art supplies! The watercolors I use are in a field set, which makes it easy to watercolor anytime and anywhere!
The brush included in this set makes it easy to control the amount of water your using. Bible pages tend to be thin, so I suggest using the least amount of water on your Bible pages as possible.
It works out well though, because the less water you use usually means better pigment payoff.
I think highlighters are an essential Bible journaling tool.
You cant go wrong with highlighters, unless you are using a super inky highlighter that bleeds through to the other page. That is so annoying!
To avoid bleed through, I use gel highlighters.
They don’t take any time to dry, they don’t smudge, and I think they are more fun to use than regular highlighters.
With highlighters you can make your own color code, which keep things organized, and helps when you are looking for a specific verse.
I love using twistable colored pencils because you never have to sharpen them, they won’t bleed through the pages, and you can still see the words under your art.
If you don’t have highlighters colored pencils are a good substitute.
These pencils will work well for those of you who are interested in Bible journaling over the whole page.
I LOVE washi tape! It is a super easy way to add color to anything.
You can use this stuff anywhere, on phone cases, in scrapbooks, and my favorite place…the margins in my Bible!!
Washi tape comes in TONS of colors, sizes and patters. There’s like a different washi tape for every season and holiday. So it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to find a pattern you like.
I love to use different patterns and sizes. I use thin washi tape to create borders and line the margins of my Bible!
If you go on Pinterest and look up Bible journaling you are more than likely to see a Bible where each pages outer edge is sealed with washi tape. I love this look bit have not tried it out yet.
Stickers are a quick way to add color to the pages of your Bible.
If you are not the best at drawing, stickers are an easy way to add an illustrated element.
I feel like stickers and washi tape go hand and hand. They bring color and fun to the page without any effort.
You should always date your work…at least that’s what my grandma always says! You could always just write the date but if you really want to get fancy use a date stamp!
It’s cool to look back in your bible and see when a particular verse stood out.
I love to use cute paper clips to mark where I left off reading and journaling. Who wants to use a boring paper clip? Not me ! I love these because they are cute and functional.
I use sticky notes to break up sections and add little notes. The small sticky notes are perfect to fit in the side columns of your Bible. When I run out of room in the margins it’s great to have sticky notes for overflow.
Last but not least….a pencil! It may be an obvious choice, but a pen or pencil might end up being the most essential journaling tool!!
I use a pen to take notes or define details in my art work. Sometimes I will use a pencil to sketch out the designs.
There you have it, my top 10 bible journaling supplies!
Whatever supplies you decide to use just remember to use the creativity God gave you and focus on the word!
