Are you a young adult seeking community and not knowing how to find friends?
In this post let’s explore a few ways to find friends.
How to find friends as a young adult
Finding people to be friends with that are around your age after graduating school can be pretty difficult. I know firsthand how hard it is to make friends outside of a school setting.
Here are a few ways to seek friends in your city.
how to find friends online:
Join a Facebook group
I recently joined Facebook, I know I’m a little late to the game but to my surprise there is a Facebook group for EVERTHING.
Facebook is an easy place to start seeking new friendships.
First, type in your city or a hobby you enjoy, and then browse the endless list of groups available for you to join. These groups are great places to reach out to likeminded people and a low effort way to jump into community.
Besides, a lot of people are looking for friends and Facebook groups are a great place to put yourself out there.
Soul Society - Womens Networking co.
Soul Society is a women’s networking group where you can connect with likeminded women.
You can join the Soul Society app here where you will have access to 6am Club daily devotional, Bible Study, and book club. As well as getting to connect and chat with women in the app!
There are a few in person chapters of Soul Society in Florida, Texas, and Maryland where you can become part of a growing community.
Get updates on events we host by joining the app or one of the local Facebook group chapters.
Also, you can click on the Soul Society image above to be taken to the website where you can learn more!
Bumble BFF
Not only is the Bumble app used for finding dates, but it can also be used to find friends! I personally know a couple of people who have made close friends through Bumble BFF.
finding Friends in person:
Introduce Yourself - Be the Inviter
It may feel scary to make the first move, but it will be worth it.
If you see someone at the gym or at church, invite them to get coffee.
In the same way, reach out to people you haven’t talked to in years. Be the inviter!
other ideas:
- Ask your current friends to introduce you to their other friends
- Get involved at church
- Join a gym
- Join an adult’s sport league
Why seek community - we aren't meant to do life alone
Certainly, life is so much sweeter when surrounded by people who love and support you. We are not meant to walk through life alone.

I just finished reading the book Find Your People by Jennie Allen. I highly recommend you read it. The book is all about building deep community in our society that does not prioritize it.
