How to take church notes

Here are a few simple tips to help you take church notes.

  1. First, get a notepad and pen ready!
  2. Then, write down whoever the pastor is and the date.
  3. Next, jot down the main points talked about.
  4. Write down the key verses referenced and write out the full verse later if you don’t have time during the service.
Ater the service you may want to reflect on the message.

Sometimes it can be difficult to take notes when a pastor is speaking quickly. The good news is that many churches broadcast their Church services online, which makes it easy to rewind and allows you to write down every detail.

It’s neat to be able to look back on the notes and see how you have learned and grown from that time.

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin. James 4:17

Sin- when we miss the target, when we know and disobey

Sins’s of commission: sinful action proactively

Sin’s of Omission: Called to do something but don’t do them/ willful disregard of God’s commands. We could and should have but didn’t.

When we say NO when God says GO we will have consequences. We are leaving spiritual potential on the table will result in following a lesser purpose.

Disciple: hears word of the Lord and puts those things into practice.

Let’s be zealous for God: 100% committed.

Give your greatest level of passion to God.

Boldness- courageous action in the face of adversity

-outspokenness, assurance, courage, confidence; to act without fear

Faith leads to boldness, which leads to spiritual wellness.

If you don’t take action, you are compromising your calling.

God gives ordinary people extraordinary boldness. Boldness comes from spending time with Jesus.

Though you do not see Him you believe in Him- church notes

He has risen! He has risen indeed!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into the inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1Peter 1 3:9

Like peter we too have failed Him. We are promised a deliverance that is yet to come.

Christ has justified us just as if we have never sinned. His resurrection was transforming and tangible. He suffered to make us inherit the kingdom. He caused us to be born again into a living hope an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, unfading.

Jesus loved us to life by dying for us. The resurrection of Jesus changed our past and future.

Peter was changed by the resurrection & so are we.

He rose at the first day of the week and we will rise at the last day of life.

the unknown-church notes

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or the left, that you may be successful wherever you may go. Keep this book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:7-8

  • The unknown is a place of blessing and super natural provision
  • Your unknown is known to God, it may be scary to you but it is sacred to Him
  • Look to Him and trust Him completely
  • Don’t just go through it GROW through it
  • I’m not worried about the next chapter because I know the author
  • Unless you step out into the unknown with Him you are going to miss out
  • Noah was told to build the boat before there was any rain

Remember the church- church notes

Jesus not only came to save but to also start His church.

God creates and assembles the church.

  • He causes our wonder.
  • He questions and brings the answer is one.
  • The church is the outcome of the work of the Father and Jesus
  • We are meant to have fellowship with Him and each other.
  • God knits together imperfect people into an imperfect community
  • Assembly of called up and called out to be together under God.
  • If you believe in your heart you confess with your mouth.

communion- church notes

Sign and seal of Gods promise.

Christ gave early Christians the kings feast.

This feast is not a reward for the righteous but grace for the repentant.

When partaking in the feast it proclaims Christ’s death.

  • It’s a sacrament-deep and hidden but revealed in Jesus.
  • It is both external but also hidden communion.
  • Strengthens connection with Christ and with others. When we eat and drink together, we connect.

We need a savior whose body was broken so we could be made whole. Whose blood was spilled so your sin could be cleaned.

Remembering the church

” He tends his flock like a shepherd: he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” Isaiah 40:11

” At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, ” Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Mathew 18:1-6

Every child you meet is a divine appointment. Children are sacred, children are our teachers.

They are sent into our lives to expand our hearts.

Children are our mission.

Christ sought us in our lostness. He paid the dept for us that we couldn’t pay.

Become like a child.

I am a child of God.

Remember the church- love is a practice

We serve a perfect savior who loves us perfectly and is calling us to show His kindness and mercy to everyone we know and everywhere we go.

The Fellowship of the Believers

“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved” Acts 2″42-47

” How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! ” Psalm 133:1

Unity is heavens kiss on a people who are united in love for God, one another, and neighbor.

The word and spirit go together. The spirit is guiding us in the truth.

Jesus said: The world will know you are my disciples by the way you love eachother

one heart one mission- church notes

Made by God on purpose and with purpose.

The local church is on a global mission.

We are called to bring the good news of Jesus everyone we know everywhere we go.

We are a part of a century deep and continents wide story.

” Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surly I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Mathew 28:18-20

God did not abandon us in our rebellion.

We live in a time where all morality is relative.

Where relationships are transactional and identities are fluid and fragile and where sources of fulfilment consistently disappoint.

We live in an age of unchecked radical individualism, where people believe that finding their personal fulfilment is their purpose in life.

People are more moved by the world new than the good news.

As Christians we don’t have the option of taking off our uniform and merging with the crowd.

Make resilient Disciples.
